 Since the registration website is now available only through the AUBG system, students who were not in Blagoevgrad during pre-registration week had to establish an ongoing e-mail communication with the Registrars' Office. This made the pre-registration process less effective for the 67 students on leave or suspension, putting them at a disadvantage.

 AUBG students have been visiting children from the Blagoevgrad orphanage in a project organized by the Better Community Club and its advisor, political science professor Benedict DeDominicis. Some of the meetings are devoted to learning English, others just to getting to know each other.

 The Fall 2008 theater season at AUBG opened with “The Bald Soprano.” With the help of theater professor Nedyalko Delchev, the director of the play Igor Gurkin managed to stage a performance of high quality, though only in front of a small Russian-speaking audience.
