Georgi Tuparov is an adjunct professor in the computer science department. He was born in Blagoevgrad and has now returned with his wife and 11-year-old daughter. Professor Tuparov teaches Information Systems at AUBG, taking the place of professor Bonev who is on leave for the spring semester. Tuparov received his master's degree in 1990 and his Ph.D. in 2004, both from the Technical University in Sofia, Bulgaria.

What was your previous occupation?

Actually, at the moment I also teach at other universities. I am full-time lecturer at the Southwest University in Blagoevgrad and part-time senior researcher at the Institute of Mathematics and Informatics in the department of Software Engineering in Sofia. Furthermore, I am a guest lecturer at New Bulgarian University, where I teach database systems , functional programming, information systems, and internet-based information systems.

What did you know about AUBG before coming here?

Well, I know a lot of things about AUBG and that is because I am from Blagoevgrad. Also, my friends are here and most of them work at the university. I really appreciate the opportunities and experience that AUBG gives to its students and professors.

How do you find AUBG administration so far? Is it effective?

Yes, of course. I think that the AUBG administration compared to other Bulgarian universities is the most effective.

Do you have certain expectations from your students?

Yes, but it was interesting for me that all of the students actually passed my demands. They are very good students with very strong motivation. To this moment, I do not have any problems with them.

Do you think that students who work with computers so much have problems with real communication after that?

No, absolutely not, it is different with each person. Actually, students in computer science should think more mathematically and sometimes even abstract. Information systems is more applied science, we use Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc. in our daily life.

Are you working on any projects or do you have projects that you already released?

Yes, my colleagues and I finished half a year ago a project about learning paths and profiles of students in information systems. Moreover, we prepared one big project with the Computer Science department but, unfortunately, we did not receive financing.

Would you stay more at AUBG if the department offers you to do so?

I would be glad to stay more. There are a lot of reasons for that but mostly because Blagoevgrad is a very interesting town for life and for the schooling of my child as well. I like the atmosphere at AUBG and I think that all of you who study here are really lucky young people with a lot of opportunities for future.
