![]() photos by Venelina Miteva Professor Foulds' final degree at Virginia Tech in the U.S. Then, he returned to New Zealand again and taught there for several years. He has also taught in universities in Brazil and Florida. Have you ever been to Bulgaria? I have been in Bulgaria before. I met a Bulgarian professor at a conference and we became friends. He invited me to the University of Sofia, where I talked about my research.
Why did you come to AUBG?
I came to AUBG, because I heard that Eastern European students are very, very good. On my way to Rila monastery, I passed through Blagoevgrad and found it very beautiful. That is one of the reasons I came back to AUBG. What do you think about the students in AUBG? Do they differ from the students in other universities?
Students at AUBG are hard-working, intelligent, and good at mathematics. They are certainly better than the students I have taught at the U.S. If you had the chance to choose a career, would you prefer mathematics and science again?
If I had my time again, I would study medicine. I would choose to be a doctor that helps women to have babies. That is what I would like to do because I think it is very positive and constructive. If I were a student in Bulgaria, I would learn the English language and English literature, and possibly journalism. I would pursue a graduate degree in business, but a first degree in other area. Do your future plans include staying at AUBG? I can be here for only this semester because I am committed to return home, but I would be very interested and talk to the authorities about returning to AUBG. How do you find the university's administration? As a visiting professor, I find the facilities very good and just as good as those in other American universities I have taught at. I do not have any complaints. What are your hobbies?
My hobbies are reading fiction and classical novels, and children's magic. I am a magician for small children. |
